Premature Ovarian Insufficiency

Early ovarian failure (EOF) or premature ovarian failure (POF) or premature ovarian Insufficiency (POI) basically  are all the same thing!

Call it what you like, I don't know about you but I don't want to label any part of my being as a failure. Cells hear our thoughts and contribute to our feelings. So I always say I had early menopause.

I do want to talk about this on its own though, as this was the experience I had that sent me into peri menopause in my early 30s and "Early Menopause" 😉  at age 36.

Apparently POI officials affects about 1-2% of the female population, though I have seen menopause specialist say they believe the percentage is higher.

Premature Ovarian Insufficiency  is when our ovaries stop producing eggs before the age of 40.

Do we know what causes it? Not exactly but the following are thought to be factors:

Chronic Infections

Autoimmune diseases

Genetic conditions

Side affects of cancer treatments

Toxicity

Where do I go from here?

A medical doctor or specialist endocrinologist will generally diagnose you with EOF, POF, or POI, they will more than likely suggest that you go on HRT at least until the normal menopausal age. This can be a really difficult time for young women and also scary. As you may know nothing about menopause.

Just know....

you have time to make decisions about your health.

You have time to come away and process your grief.

You have time to make decisions about your fertility options.

Life is not over, there are options and you can work through this.

You are a strong, beautiful women and you will attract the support you need,  you will come across the information you need to come across and live life in these years of wisdom as your whole, free and exquisite self.

So if you have been diagnosed with POF, POI or EOF. Just know that this is just the beginning of a new journey.  Not the end.

I went through POI in my mid 30s, I hadn't had children so the news of infertility was devastating. You can read more about my journey on my blog and know that you are not alone and this is not the end.  This is the beginning of a new you,  you just have some hurdles to cross over first.

I work with women who have been through, or are going through or think they may be going through premature ovarian insufficiency or Early Menopause. I support women like you physically and emotionally to get you to your optimal health.  Remember you could be just steps away to vibrant health.
